New Alternative to
Conventional Rowing
(Quick! Bookmark this page
before you forget!)
The FrontRower is the new
different unusual alternative to traditional normal conventional
type rowing.
There are lots of variations
in conventional rowing systems (fixed seat, sliding seat, sweeps,
sculling). But all conventional rowing systems have three things in
common:
-
You row them facing backward.
You have to twist around to see where you are going.
-
You have to use your hands to operate
the oars. You can't use your hands for other things like holding
binoculars or a camera.
-
If they feather at all, you
need to rotate your wrists to feather them.
This adds complexity to the stroke.
If you're using your rowing
boat for racing or utility purposes, or purely for exercise in hazard free
waters, conventional rowing is fine and everybody is happy.
But if you want to use it
for comfortable pleasure rowing or touring, then the new different
unusual FrontRower just might be a better choice.
Note: Many canoes make
great touring rowboats for use with the FrontRower. Most sculling
boats do not (not enough room). Most fixed seat rowboats do
not (too beamy).
