Our Odyssey series of rowboats are
designed for plywood stitch-and-glue construction. Unlike
traditional plank-on-frame construction, strongbacks and station molds are not needed.
Instead, assembly is done on a flat table. A table of offsets is
used to lay out the planks full size on the plywood panels, which are
then cut to shape. The planks are held together with wire
"stitches" and then "glued" together with epoxy and fiberglass tape.
A set of plans includes:
- bill of materials
- arrangement drawing showing
location of various parts
- table of offsets for each plank
- full size patterns for transom,
stem, breasthook, and frames
- construction details for various
parts
- building sequence chart
The purchase of a set of plans grants
the right to build one boat.
