Rowing Shells (sculling boats)
The problem with rowing shells is that they don't have enough room in them to bring things like passengers, pets or fishing gear. And they are not very stable. So in our opinion they are not well suited for use as touring rowboats. But there are a few shells that will work well with the FrontRower, such as the Alden Ocean Shell Single and the Alden Ocean Shell Double, and they make excellent exercise boats.
There are lots of these boats out there, and they're easy to install a FrontRower™ in. If you have one and you want to row it forward, you might as well use it.
Either the Alden single or the double will accommodate one FrontRower™ forward facing rowing station.
The Alden double is one of the few boats that can be used for hybrid rowing (one FrontRower™ and one conventional rowing station) in the same boat.
